Will SOLODock fit my MacBook?

Choose your exact MacBook model on the product page before ordering. SOLODock Core is intended to support all MacBook sizes, while Connect and Pro cover a wider range of supported Air and Pro models. If your model is not listed, send the model name or model number before ordering and it can be checked.

How long does install take?

Most installations take around 5-10 minutes.  Preparation is key.  Check the alignment before installation and mark the correct position on your surface before drilling holes.  Carefully position the mount, press it firmly into place and test fit before final docking.

Do you ship worldwide?

SOLODock ships to most international destinations. The available service and final shipping cost are shown at checkout. A small number of remote or restricted destinations may not be available.

What's your return policy?

Standard products can be returned within 30 days of delivery, provided they are returned complete and in as received condition. Bespoke or personalised products may be excluded unless faulty. The published Returns Policy contains the full terms and takes priority over this summary.

Is it really 3D printed? Will it last?

Yes. Every SOLODock is 3D printed in small batches and then finished and inspected by hand. Fine layer lines are normal. The structure, wall thickness and mounting geometry are designed for everyday desk use when the dock is installed and used as instructed.

Compatibility

5 ANSWERS

Which MacBook models are supported?

Choose your exact MacBook model on the product page before ordering. SOLODock Core is intended to support all MacBook sizes, while Connect and Pro cover a wider range of supported Air and Pro models. If your model is not listed, send the model name or model number before ordering and it can be checked.

What desks does it work with?

We include mounting screws of a fixed length.  Please ensure they work before installation and are not longer than your desk top’s thickness to avoid damage.  Using different screws could damage your MacBook if they protrude.

Can I use it in clamshell mode?

Yes. SOLODock is designed for closed-lid desk setups. Your MacBook still needs the power, external display, keyboard and mouse configuration required by macOS for clamshell mode.

Does it work with a Studio Display or external monitor?

Yes, provided your MacBook, hub and cable support the display resolution and refresh rate you want to use. The dock itself holds the MacBook; display capability is determined by the MacBook, connected hub and cable.

Can I use it with a non-MacBook laptop?

No, each model is precisely engineered to fit only that specific MacBook. Please don’t try using other laptops.

Installation

4 ANSWERS

Do I need any tools?

No power tools are needed for the standard installation. A clean cloth, the supplied installation kit and a pencil for positioning are normally all you need.

Do I need to drill into my desk?

No, the standard installation uses a multi-point fixture mounting system so you don’t need to drill holes into your desk unless you have exceptionally strong wood.  However, don’t drill through the dock; remove it first.  Always follow the full installation page instructions.

Can I move the dock to a new desk later?

Yes, please carefully remove the dock and cable routing and ensure it’s not bent.  Also, make sure the screws you re-mount don’t protrude and rub against the MacBook and cause scratches.

Will it fall down with my MacBook in it?

The mount is designed to securely hold your MacBook when fitted to a suitable surface and installed with all the necessary fixtures.  Before mounting your MacBook ensure the surface is solid and not hollow and check its load capacity.

Delivery

6 ANSWERS

Where do you ship?

Orders can be sent to most UK and international addresses. The available destinations and services are shown at checkout. Some remote, restricted or carrier-excluded areas may not be available.

How long does delivery take?

Each dock is made and checked before dispatch. The current production estimate is shown on the product page but usually dispatched within 48-72 hours, followed by the carrier delivery time for your destination. Tracking will show the latest estimate once the parcel has been collected.

Can I track my order?

Yes, when the selected carrier service includes tracking. A dispatch email is sent with the tracking link as soon as the label is active.

Do you charge customs or duties?

International orders may be subject to import VAT, customs charges or handling fees set by the destination country. These are normally the customer's responsibility unless checkout clearly states that they are included.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact SOLODock as soon as possible with the order number. Changes are usually possible before production or dispatch begins. Once a custom item has entered production or an order has shipped, changes may no longer be possible.

Is shipping carbon-offset?

SOLODock does not make a blanket claim that every shipment is carbon-neutral. Packaging is kept compact and lower-impact delivery options are used where practical. Any formal carrier offset will be shown by the selected delivery service.

Returns & warranty

5 ANSWERS

What's your return policy?

Standard products have a 30-day return window from delivery. They should be returned complete and in as received condition. Custom-made or personalised items may only be returnable if faulty. The published Returns Policy takes priority over this summary.

How long is the warranty?

Manufacturing defects are covered under the 12 months warranty terms supplied with the order and shown in the store policies. Normal wear, misuse, excessive heat, accidental damage and incorrect installation are not manufacturing defects.

What if my dock arrives with a small mark?

Small layer lines or minor handmade variation can occur because every part is printed and finished individually. If there is a crack, deformation, missing part or mark that affects function, send clear photos and the order number so it can be put right.

How do I start a return?

Use the contact form or reply to the order email with the order number and reason for the return. Include photos if the item is damaged or faulty. Return instructions will be sent before you post anything back.

Do you offer replacements for accidental damage?

Accidental damage is not normally covered by warranty, but replacement parts or a discounted replacement may be available. Send a photo and order number so the most practical option can be checked.

Materials & care

6 ANSWERS

What's SOLODock made from?

Most SOLODock parts are printed from PLA by default, with PETG available for applications that need additional heat or impact tolerance. The finished assembly may also include protective liner, adhesive mounting components and small hardware.

PLA or PETG — which should I choose?

PLA is the best choice for most indoor desks: it is rigid, precise and has a clean matte finish. Choose PETG for warmer rooms, direct sun exposure, travel or situations where extra impact resistance and heat tolerance are useful.

How should I clean my dock?

Use a dry microfibre cloth or a lightly damp cloth with mild soap. Do not soak the dock, put it in a dishwasher or use solvents, alcohol, acetone, abrasive cleaners or high heat on the printed part.

Will the material hold up on my desk?

Yes, when used indoors within the stated temperature limits and installed correctly. PLA should be kept away from sustained high heat and strong direct sun. PETG offers more headroom for warmer environments.

What is the protective liner tape for?

The liner creates a smooth, low-friction contact surface between the dock and the MacBook. It helps reduce rubbing, marks and noise. Inspect it occasionally and replace it if it becomes damaged, contaminated or lifts at the edges.

Can I sand or refinish the dock?

It is not recommended. Sanding, heating, painting or coating can change the fit, weaken edges or transfer material to the MacBook. Contact SOLODock before modifying a part.

Cables & accessories

3 ANSWERS

Which USB4 cable do I need?

Choose the cable around your workflow and the capability of your MacBook and hub. A certified 40Gbps cable is suitable for most everyday setups. Choose a higher-bandwidth option only when your hardware and display setup can use it.

Is a cable included?

A cable is only included when the product page or selected bundle explicitly says so. Otherwise, choose a compatible cable separately from the accessories section.

Do you sell replacement liners?

Yes, replacement protective liners can be offered as an accessory or support item. Use the contact form if they are not currently listed in the shop.

Sustainability

4 ANSWERS

Is SOLODock recyclable?

The printed material may require a specialist recycling stream and is not accepted by every household recycling service. Separate removable metal, paper and adhesive components where possible and check local facilities before disposal.

Where is it made?

SOLODock is designed, printed, finished, inspected and packed in the UK in small batches.

Are you working on new materials?

Yes. Recycled, bio-based and lower-impact materials are tested continually, but a material is only adopted when it can meet the required rigidity, finish, dimensional accuracy and long-term reliability.

What about packaging?

Packaging is kept compact and uses paper or card-based materials wherever practical. Unnecessary plastic and oversized packaging are avoided, while still protecting the dock during delivery.

About SOLODock

3 ANSWERS

Who makes SOLODock?

SOLODock is an independent, small-scale project rather than a large corporation. Each dock is printed, finished, checked and packed in the UK, with product development driven directly by customer feedback.

How do I get in touch with a human?

Use the contact form on the site or reply to your order email. Messages are read and answered personally rather than passed through an automated support desk.

Do you offer bulk or studio orders?

Yes. For studios, teams or multiple-desk installations, send the model mix, quantity, deadline and any custom requirements. Availability, lead time and possible volume pricing can then be confirmed.
